Introduction

| |
Saifullah Foundation for Sustainable
Development was established in June 2002, as an independent
non-political, non-profit and non-governmental organization,
registered under Volunteer Social Welfare Agency Ordinance
1961, Government of Pakistan. The initial funding for its
establishment and projects has been in the form of generous
donations by its Founder President, Mr. Javed Saifullah Khan.
Mr. Khan is a well-known business leader of Pakistan. He is
the Chairman of Saif Group of Companies, a leading business
and industrial conglomerate of Pakistan with significant presence
in Textiles, Cement, power generation, food products, Telecom
and Information Technology industries.
Despite his business engagements, Mr. Javed Khan has been
in the forefront of community welfare activities in his area
and province. For this purpose Mr. Khan has established Saifullah
Foundation with its Head office in Islamabad and Regional
office in District Lakki Marwat, NWFP, Pakistan.
The Saifullah Foundation aims to address the challenging task
of rural marginality in a holistic manner by emphasizing asset
building, alternative income generation techniques, valuing,
preserving and enhancing local knowledge and technology skill
enhancement and above all, gender equality through increased
participation of women partners as local entrepreneurs, proficient
artisans and efficient managers.
